Summer is a great time to develop and refine art techniques and skills across a variety of media. Using the Nassau County Museum of Art’s resources and surrounding natural environment as inspiration, young artists will learn core elements of drawing, painting, and contemporary art practices using professional art materials. At the end of the two week session, artists will curate their work in a culminating exhibition.

Regarding 12 year olds, it is up to you which session you feel would suit your child best. In the morning session, while we keep all ages together in the classroom, we differentiate artmaking based on age and create small groups. This might be the best fit for you if you would like to keep differently aged siblings in the same session. If your 12 year old would like a more intensive artmaking experience, the afternoon session though shorter will dive more deeply into artmaking experiences.
