CHILDREN'S CLASSES

The Right Brain I
Ages 8 -over

Instructor: Jules Gaeta

This class is designed for young artists who are beyond the typical arts & crafts classes. Drawing is a foundation to all mediums. Learning to see before drawing is also an essential tool. We will utilize many activities, such as still life, upside-down drawing, cartoons, grid drawings, and many more to sharpen our drawing skills as well as to exercise our way of seeing. Realistic drawing is emphasized in this serious, but fun drawing class. Supplies are included.

The Right Brain II
Ages 8 -over

Instructor: Jules Gaeta

The principals used in the Right Brain I will be further emphasized in this continuing class and we will advance to the next level. A clothed model, a trip to the museum, drawing on the grounds of the museum (weather permitting) and other exercises will be utilized. Lessons will change every season, therefore repeat students are welcome. The Right Brain I is a prerequisite for this class. Supplies are included.

Exploring Art I
Ages 5 - 8

Instructor: Yvette DeMeo

Children will have fun as they explore the world of art. Each class investigates a "hands-on” approach allowing children to create their own artistic style and expand their talent. Students will be introduced to drawing, painting, collage, printmaking and sculpture. Supplies are included

Exploring Art II
Ages 8-13

Instructor: Yvette DeMeo

Focusing on oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, this class is geared towards children and teens who are interested in continuing to develop the skills they acquired in Exploring Art I. One on one direction will be given allowing each student to concentrate on his or her own individual needs, style and talent.

Out of the Studio and into the Museum!! NEW
Ages: 9-12

Instructor: Karen Gray

Learn the language of drawing by working in both the art studio and in the museum galleries! Students will spend the first part of each class working in the art studio and then move to the Museum, the Tee Ridder Miniature Museum and the Sculpture Garden for artistic inspiration. Learning to construct accurate drawings isn’t a secret, knowledge and skill can be developed through looking, practicing and understanding. Through careful observation students will learn to identify the picture plane, practice perspective and explore composition. This course is designed for serious young artists or students who want a challenge.

Teen Workshop
Ages 13 and up

Instructor: Yvette DeMeo

This class is designed to help teens and young adults fine-tune their artistic skills and challenge and nurture their talent as a young artist. Students will learn how to use sketching, shading and color to create dynamic works of art. Classes are small and personal attention allows students to explore their own personal style.
