This class is designed for young artists who are beyond the
typical arts & crafts classes. Drawing is a foundation to
all mediums. Learning to see before drawing is also an essential
tool. We will utilize many activities, such as still life, upside-down
drawing, cartoons, grid drawings, and many more to sharpen our
drawing skills as well as to exercise our way of seeing. Realistic
drawing is emphasized in this serious, but fun drawing class.
Supplies are included.
The principals used in the Right Brain I will be further emphasized
in this continuing class and we will advance to the next level.
A clothed model, a trip to the museum, drawing on the grounds
of the museum (weather permitting) and other exercises will be
utilized. Lessons will change every season, therefore repeat students
are welcome. The Right Brain I is a prerequisite for this class.
Supplies are included.
Children will have fun as they explore the world of art. Each
class investigates a "hands-on” approach allowing
children to create their own artistic style and expand their talent.
Students will be introduced to drawing, painting, collage, printmaking
and sculpture. Supplies are included
Focusing on oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, this class
is geared towards children and teens who are interested in continuing
to develop the skills they acquired in Exploring Art I. One on

on his or her own individual needs, style and talent.
Out of the Studio and into the Museum!!NEW
Ages: 9-12
Instructor: Karen Gray
Learn the language of drawing by working in both the art studio
and in the museum galleries! Students will spend the first part
of each class working in the art studio and then move to the Museum,
the Tee Ridder Miniature Museum and the Sculpture Garden for artistic
inspiration. Learning to construct accurate drawings isn’t
a secret, knowledge and skill can be developed through looking,
practicing and understanding. Through careful observation students
will learn to identify the picture plane, practice perspective
and explore composition. This course is designed for serious young
artists or students who want a challenge.
This class is designed to help teens and young adults fine-tune
their artistic skills and challenge and nurture their talent as
a young artist. Students will learn how to use sketching, shading
and color to create dynamic works of art. Classes are small and
personal attention allows students to explore their own personal
style.
